Even Google sometimes flipflops on its usage and reliablity on WhoIs for finding the Domain Age. I refer to the video by Mattcutts in which he spoke about the WhoIs determination of Domain Age etc.
With reference to the video above can we determine that Private WhoIs hurts my Site ranking? Or is Site Ranking not at all considered on WhoIs data? I go with the second line of thought as Google as a registrar and any registrar if observes the spammy activity on the domain bans the user and also public the hidden part of the Private WhoIs. Whereas for a Legitimate site owner this is not a concern because Google can pass through the privacy of WhoIs and understand that you have 2-3 sites and you are not involved in any spammy activity. But for spammers Google when passing through and banning the user and his site for spam also hunts for the sites registered in that persons name and ban them also along with the first website. So the whole chain of spam sites is closed with the single hunt.
So do I Open the Private WhoIs for being on the top of the search result?
My answer to this question is no accepting the fact that Google can look through the Private WhoIs data and can determine the user and its activity positive or negative there is no need to make information public. As it makes spammers, telemarketers and inauthorize activist use this data for illegal usage. Keeping your WhoIs data private is not going to hurt your site ranking and if you are spammer or scammer hiding WhoIs data is of no use.
To conclude we can understand that Public WhoIs had a upper hand in determining the page rank of a website but it is not of much importance as of now. Not of much importance doesn’t mean zero impact it has an impact but being targetted by spammers, scammers and telemarketers is no good to compensate your upper hand in traffic ranking.
