Every Webmaster be it a Personal Website or a Corporate Website owner doubts about Is Content freshness guarantees to be on top of search results. Matt clarifies the above point and highlights quiet a few things which is a must for understanding people behavior on Google. Three types of searches made by users:-
1. Navigational
2. Informmational
3. Transactional

If the search is Navigational it could be about a particular brand like Canon printer, Amway beauty products. This search is considered to be navigational hence google will show the landing page of the company site. If it is related to some information like latest printer technology it will be routed to the latest updated page with most relevant information.
Transactional is obviously out of question as the user is looking to shop or is looking banking site or online paypal payment, credit card payment.

There are 200+ signals used by Google to find the intent of query to serve results. The hint for webmaster is not be worried about the content freshness because the evergreen content is allways served at top of everything. For example before writing the content over this topic i thought of some Googling will enhance my view on this subject. I am astonished to see that when I search QDF below was the result:-

The above results stats that despite 3,160,000 results the first result is of a SEOMOZ post about QDF. The best part of this search is Google understands that I am searching for Query Deserves Freshness not something else. Which means that the Webmaster of Company website or those websites which publish evergreen content or a topic which don’t need frequent updates need not worry. Just SEO will do the trick.
